All of the nonprofits on Makua with our verification checkmark have been vetted by us. Our vetting process revolves around one simple, but powerful question:
“Is this organization making real, measurable impact?”
If we see that a nonprofit organization has a strong, clear mission, and has accomplished measurable milestones towards that mission, that is an organization we are happy to support, and feel confident for you to support.
Giving in any way, shape, or form is a beautiful thing that makes people feel good, inspired, and feel connected to a deeper purpose. While we encourage the act of giving, we want to make sure we recommend impactful nonprofits that you can feel confident putting your money towards, because they’re actually making a real difference for the causes you care about.
Also, all of our vetted nonprofits are up to date on their 990 tax filings, so their financials are publicly available, with the majority of them recording 80%+ of funds going towards their programs.
Although we try our best to choose nonprofits that inspire us and are making a real impact towards their mission, we encourage you to do you own research into specific nonprofits if there is anything you feel unsure about.
